Welcome to the first day of the 2011 college football season. We'll pause for your happy dance.
Now that we're back, Marcus and Kyle are unveiling our first Heisman Trophy and BCS title picks.
This will be a recurring feature every Thursday, and we want to hear your thoughts on who you think will eventually have their hardware vacated.
Onto the picks!
HE-IS-MAN
Marcus
Pick
- Andrew Luck (QB Stanford) 9/2
Worth a shot
- Kirk Cousins (QB Michigan State) 35/1
Cousins is an experienced vet with a host of offensive weapons.
Kyle
Pick
- Marcus Lattimore (RB South Carolina) 7/1
Worth a shot
- Case Keenum (QB Houston) 35/1
With loads of experience, Keenum is poised to break the all-time yards records this year against some awfully soft defensive backfields.

NATIONAL TITLE
Marcus
Alabama 11/2
Worth a shot
Texas 25/1
The ‘Horns will be better and year in and year out they field the best talent from the state of Texas.
Kyle
Oregon 12/1
Worth a shot
Nebraska 25/1
It pains me to say it, but the Huskers could rip through the B1G with an unfamiliar offense.

Excellent thoughts here fellas. Here are mine, because who doesn't like an opinion?
ReplyDeleteHE-IS-MAN
— LaMichael James 15/2 )Why? Because LaMichael punched a Boise St. player ... wait, that was LeGarret... Well, still, high-powered Duck offense = thriving James).
WORTH A SHOT
— Justin Blackmon 15/1 (Why? Because WRs never win it)
NATIONAL TITLE
— 'Bama 11/2 (Why? If I pick an SEC team, maybe I'll jinx the conference)
WORTH A SHOT
— Oklahoma State 30/1 (I think they might have it figured out in Stillwater, and Justin Blackmon is my Fever Dog)
LaMichael James is poised to have a huge year Kev, thanks for the post!
ReplyDeleteCousins??? Really (I am screaming "HOMER" right now)??? You would actually put money on him?? His weapons are running backs, he is not going to get credit for handing the ball to them. He will get the same amount of Heisman votes as Alex Carder...and probably less than Conference mate Denard Robinson (though I would not put any money on him winning the Heisman either, I do agree with you on the Luck pick, it is his to lose).
ReplyDeleteLee are you serious? He's a fifth-year senior with weapons including WR B.J. Cunningham (who Herbstreit named to his all under-the-radar team) , Keyshawn Martin, an experienced group of TEs AND the great stable of running backs, which is going to open up mismatches in the passibg game when the D loads the box. I'm giddy at the thought of what he'll do to opposing defenses.
